Temporary Staffing for Early Years and Nurseries
The first years of a child’s life are the foundation for everything that follows. At JM Workforce Services, we provide dedicated, reliable, and nurturing temporary staff to nurseries, preschools, and early years settings across the UK. Whether it’s last-minute cover or long-term support, we’re here to ensure children continue to receive safe, high-quality care.

Support When You Need It Most
Our service runs 24/7, from emergency cover to planned absences. Our on-call team is always ready to respond to bookings, cancellations, or urgent requests. In many cases, we can deploy qualified staff within two hours of terms being signed, so your ratios are never compromised.
Full Shift Coverage
We supply early years practitioners and nursery assistants for both short-term and long-term placements. Whether you need cover for one day, a week, or ongoing support across your rota, we help keep your setting compliant, safe, and consistent for the children in your care.
Quality Staff Who Care
We understand how important it is to have staff who not only meet regulatory standards but also bring warmth and patience to every interaction. Our team includes:
- Experienced early years practitioners with Level 2 or Level 3 qualifications
- Nursery assistants who bring energy, creativity, and a child-centred approach
- Individuals who may be newer to the sector but demonstrate strong values, adaptability, and a genuine passion for supporting young children
All staff complete a thorough induction before starting work to ensure they are confident, safe, and aligned with early years best practice.

Beyond Compliance
Every staff member is fully vetted to meet the requirements of Ofsted and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). This includes:
- Verified Right to Work in the UK
- Enhanced DBS check, with Update Service verified
- At least two professional references, including those from previous childcare roles
- One additional character reference
- Full work history, with any gaps explained and documented
- Completion of mandatory training, including:
- Safeguarding Children
- Paediatric First Aid
- Food Hygiene
- Health & Safety
Ongoing Training and Induction
Our in-house Training Manager ensures every worker is prepared for the unique demands of early years care. In addition to the mandatory courses, we offer training in areas such as child development, behaviour management, and supporting children with SEND. This ensures staff arrive ready to contribute positively from day one.
